Locally, Vacaville is a friendly place to bring up your children. Located on the I-80 corridor between Sacramento to the east (35 miles) and San Francisco (50 miles) to its west. Current Population is 87,700, Climate is mild with a daily average of 60 degrees in winter, 80 degrees in the summer months. Growth of this city within the last 20 years has seen the population triple, however the city government has kept up with the times. With adequate infrastructure for traffic, shopping, commercial and residential mix, this little rural town is now bordering on being a urban Mecca. Only one thing missing in this picture is a Super Mall (Solano Mall's anchor include Sears, J.C. Penney, Mervyn, to name a few) which is located in the City of Fairfield roughly 7 miles west of Vacaville, however Vacaville east side have experience tremendous commercial growth in recent years. With the Factory Stores at Vacaville, Vacaville Commons,Sam Club, Walmart, The Auto Mall on Orange Drive to name a few. A total of 19 schools exist, 2 high schools, 2 middle schools and the rest being elementary. Parks, there 37 parks plus two Community Center (Ulatis and Three Oaks) one Sport Center (George Duke) and one Senior Center (McBride).
Water resources for fishing and boating includes Lagoon Valley Lake, Lake Berryessa with Lake Solano Park at the lower park of this lake, Suisun Bay and Gizzly Island and the Sacramento Delta which is near by.
